Description
TecPlot is a widely-used visualization program that combines
ease-of-use with a full set of features required for visualization and
data exploration in science and engineering. This application is
widely-use in academia and in engineering practice because it runs
across a variety of computer platforms, shares files seamlessly, and
provides the most common desired visualization features without
requiring a steep learning curve for its use.
Features
TecPlot provides easy-to-use capabilities for all standard scientific
and engineering plot types, including 1D, 2D, and 3D visualizations, as
well as data exploration/manipulation capabilities and animation
support. TecPlot's collaborative features include the ability to
read its input files from remote locations, and to output images and
animations in standard web-ready formats such as PNG and AVI.
TecPlot supports the usual finite-element datatypes found in 2D and 3D
engineering analyses, such as mesh plots, contour and isosurface
plotting. TecPlot's features are common to all supported
platforms, and data files may be shared among these various hardware
platforms. In addition, native cut-and-paste operations are
supported on microcomputers, so that visualizations can readily be
incorporated into technical documents and presentations.
Pricing and Software Metrics
- Supported platforms include all major Unix platforms (including
Linux), as well as
Windows operating system and Macintosh (OS X) desktop
microcomputers. Desktop computer versions of TecPlot require an
OpenGL-based graphics card.
- Software quality is of the Commercial grade.
- TecPlot is available at university discounts, and has special
university site licensing available.
