Description
AVS (Advanced Visual Systems) provides a suite of products suitable for
visualization of engineering datasets, including the complex data found
in earthquake engineering applications. AVS's products include:
- AVS/Express, which includes visualization and programming
capabilities,
so that this tool can be used both to render the complex 3D
time-dependent data found in earthquake engineering applications, but
also to develop custom visualization and data exploration tools using
an embedded programming environment intended for rapid-application
development (RAD) processes.
- AVS5, an application which provides easy-to-use visualization
capabilities suitable for 2D and 3D rendering of earthquake engineering
datasets, and for display/integration of 2D and 3D images.
- A public repository of modules that extend the capabilities of
AVS's
products to permit development and deployment of custom community
solutions for common visualization problems. This repository is
maintained by the International AVS Centre (IAC).
AVS products are supported directly by AVS, but also via the Usenet
newsgroup comp.graphics.avs
Features
AVS products have an extensive feature set, including the all-important
ability to rended complex transient finite-element datasets, to
juxtapose computational and experimental data, to render using
available hardware (e.g., special SGI-specific hardware visualization
support is available), and to extend the application to support novel
new visualization settings.
Pricing and Software Metrics
- Supported platforms include all major Unix platforms, as well as
NT-based Windows desktop microcomputers.
- Software quality is of the Commercial grade
- Educational pricing is available on many AVS products (for
non-profit use)
