6.3. Hilbert-Huang Transform:

Hilbert-Huang Transform refers to the combination of Empirical Mode Decomposition and Hilbert Transform established by
NASA scientist, Dr. Norden Huang. The technology has shown its usefulness in handling nonlinear and nonstationary
data sets as compared with Fourier transform and wavelet transform.

Official website

A comprehensive website on HHT has been built by NASA. A wide range of application examples are listed there, while
a 60-day trial version of the software can be requested.

People

Apart from the researchers mentioned in the above official HHT website, some of the researchers who have been applying
the HHT technology to earthquake engineering, structural dynamics and/or structural health monitoring are:

Jann N. Yang
Ray Ruichong Zhang
Satish Nagarajaiah
Darryll Pines, Associate Professor, Department of Aerospace Engineering,
University of Maryland

Researchers world-wide who dedicated to exploring fundamental issues of EMD may be represented by Dr. Patrick Flandrin.
In his website, several Matlab codes developed by Dr. Flandrin and his team to implement a modified version of EMD
can be found. Technical papers can also be downloaded.
